Right Heart Quantification

Right Heart Quantification (2010)

Very nice review of the assessment of RV, RA, and IVC. These are the basics and you must know them.  Once you’re familiar with this paper, you should be able to…

  • Measure RV size and thickness
  • Measure RA size
  • Assess RV systolic function with 4 techniques
  • Understand perfusion of the right ventricle
  • Know cutoffs for right heart dimensions, right heart systolic function, and RV diastolic function.

Fellow Challenge:  For your next 5 studies (TTE and TEE) I’d like you to independently make all necessary measurements of the right heart including wall thickness, internal diameters, systolic function, RVIMP, right heart pressures, and RV diastology.
